چکیده

The operation ofsoft-tissue release and calcaneocuboid fusion, published by Dillwyn Evans in 1961, is described in detail and a long-term review of 1 18 club feet is presented. The average age of the patients at review was nearly seventeen years. Combined cuboid/cuneiform osteotomy for correction of residual adductus deformity in idiopathic and secondary club feet.

We used a combined cuboid/cuneiform osteotomy to treat residual adductus deformity in idiopathic and secondary club feet. The mean follow-up for 27 feet (22 idiopathic, four arthrogrypotic and one related to amniotic band syndrome) was 5.0 years (2.0 to 9.8). All healed uneventfully except for one early wound infection. No further surgery was required in the 22 idiopathic club feet but four of ...

Prenatal ultrasound diagnosis of club foot: outcome and recommendations for counselling and follow-up.

Club foot was diagnosed by ultrasonography in 91 feet (52 fetuses) at a mean gestational age of 22.1 weeks (14 to 35.6). Outcome was obtained by chart review in 26 women or telephone interview in 26. Feet were classified as normal, positional deformity, isolated club foot or complex club foot. At initial diagnosis, 69 feet (40 fetuses) were classified as isolated club foot and 22 feet (12 fetus...

Assessment of hindfoot deformity by three-dimensional MRI in infant club foot.

In 12 infants aged under 16 months with unilateral club foot we used MRI in association with multiplanar reconstruction to calculate the volume and principal axes of inertia of the bone and cartilaginous structures of the hindfoot. The volume of these structures in the club foot is about 20% smaller than that in the normal foot. The reduction in volume of the ossification centre of the talus (4...

Treatment and prognosis in congenital club foot.

One hundred and twenty-nine unselected club feet were classified at birth into three grades of severity; 123 were followed up. The results of primary treatment were analysed and it is shown that the bad feet did worst. Serial splinting in plasters achieved lasting correction in nine in ten mild club feet, in half of the moderately deformed, but in only one in ten of the severely affected. Surgi...

Evaluation of the deformity in club foot by somatosensory evoked potentials.

Somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEPs) measure the conduction pathways from the periphery to the brain and can demonstrate the site of neurological impairment in a variety of locomotor conditions. SSEPs were studied in 44 children (64 feet) with surgically corrected club feet. Four children had unreproducible responses, 18 showed abnormal recordings and 22 showed normal responses. In a further...
